Inaugural Card|Board League season announcement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The inaugural season of Card/Board League competition was announced today in Decatur, Georgia. The 2009 season will consist of 10 events throughout the year, beginning with the Decatur King and Queen Invitational chess tournament on Friday, February 20. The nine remaining events will be announced as scheduling details are finalized.

Players will be awarded points based on their performance in each event throughout the season. (Players are not required to participate in every event.) The top three finishers of each event will receive commemorative medals and the top points-earner for the entire season will be awarded the coveted CBL Cup. The scoring system will be unveiled before the first event.

The official Card/Board League Web site (cardboardleague.com) is in the final stages of development but will soon feature a complete schedule of CBL 2009 events as well as the results from each tournament and overall standings.

Introducing the productivity log

The productivity log, seen at right, is a new feature here at curtmerrill.com. It is based largely — OK, wholly — on Mike's productivity diary.

Each day I'll post about what I accomplished. In some cases I may have to backfill, as I did recently after traveling without a laptop and reliable internet connectivity.

The goal is to motivate myself to get stuff done because I want to avoid the embarrassment of publicly stating that I didn't.

Here's to getting on the track in 2009.
