I watched the Braves play the Padres yesterday from the 6th row... I couldn't have been more than 10 or 15 feet away from the field. Being able to hear the slap of the ball against the leather of the catcher's mitt, or the crack as the hitter connects with a 90 mph pitch is amazing. One pitch was clocked at 101 mph!
The only downside is that I was sitting in the sun for 12 innings and am now suffering for it. I missed the Padres' winning grand slam in the 13th because I had to get out of the sun and into some A/C.
As you can probably see, things around here look a little different today. I've migrated from MovableType to WordPress to run the site. Mostly I made the switch out of curiosity. Wordpress seems to be gaining popularity and i wanted to try it out. It's also based on PHP, which i'm told lightens the load a bit on the server side of the equation. Now I need to learn the basics of PHP, but I'm willing to take on that responsiblity.
The move is actually relatively easy. It looks like some of the entries got some new categories assigned to them, but other than that, everything else seems to have moved smoothly. If you've bookmarked specific entries, those URLs will continue to work, but feel free to find the entries using the new system to update your bookmark.
This design is not of my own creation. As I learn more about PHP and WordPress templates, I'll be slowly changing the look, but this was my favorite template of the multitude available.
... to me :)
Today's agenda includes Braves v. Pirates at Turner Field, a brewery tour, good dinner and probably some other stuff.
update: Braves lost to the Pirates 4-1. If Atlanta could have held on to the ball (3 errors), we might have fared better. We couldn't make it from the game to the brewery in time because of an insane amount of traffic. Not only were people leaving the ballgame, but rush hour was just starting.
