Computer crashed. Lost novel file. Fortunately, I made a backup a few days ago, but I still lost about 4,000 words (or three days worth of typing). You can guess how I'll be spending my extended weekend.
--------
Helped with my first pig roast yesterday. It was an interesting experience. We got up at 6:30 a.m. and were enjoying the fruits of our efforts (or should it be "the flesh of our efforts") around 5 p.m. We had some... shall we say "setbacks," but overall the experience was pretty good. I shot quite a few pictures, which I'm getting developed tomorrow.

I saw Henry Rollins last night. He came to Fairbanks during his current Ivy League spoken word tour. He was really amazing to listen to. He was hilarious, but also very insightful. I left the auditorium with a combination of depression and inspiration. If he's coming through your town (I can't find tour dates), you should definitely go see. It was the best way I've spent two hours in a long time.

I just breached 25,000 words. I'm now at the halfway mark. Unfortunately, I'm three days late, so I still have some catching up to do. I think I'll be able to make it to 50k by the end of the month, though. I'm just hoping I can maintain a reasonable writing schedule for the rest of the month.

Not much of a week. Lost another two broomball games; found out I can't graduate in May; I'm behind schedule on my novel; and one my best friends moved out of town.

If only I had a few hundred thousand dollars... then I could afford one of these.

I had a photo shoot last night. It was interesting being in front of the camera for two hours and almost three rolls of film. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Last night's broomball game was exercise in patience. We were playing well, but got the short-end of the ref's whistle on several occasions (nice mixed metaphor, huh?). At one point I was too busy watching a couple of players and lost sight of the ball, which happened to sail right by me into the net. It was pretty frustrating.
My word count is growing, though. I'm still a little behind, but I think I'm catching up. I plan on making pretty large additions this weekend. I'm currently at 7,300 words. I'm always impressed when I open the file to start writing. I'm on page 27, and I'm only about 15% done. I'm starting to feel like a novelist, although not a very good one.

Fairbanks, and the rest of Alaska, was rocked by a 7.9 earthquake on Sunday. According to the Alaska Earthquake Information Center, there have been over a thousand earthquakes in the past month. Most are sub-3.0, but there have been a couple larger ones. What fun it is to live less than 100 miles from a fault line.
--------
I'm a little bit behind, but I'm hoping to catch up tonight after playing a bit of hockey. If you want to keep tabs on my progress, you can check my word count here. I've been updating it at least once a day.

Well, I've got 847 of 50,000 words. I'm going to go to bed now, but I plan on doing a lot of writing tomorrow. I need to average about 1,600 words a day, so I'll have some catching up to do when I get up in the morning. You can keep an eye on the word count right here.
In Broomball news, we tied our second game 1-1. I was trying a new strategy as keeper, which seemed to work pretty well. Also, the rest of the team were working really well together. They were able to complete passes and move the ball to the other end of the ice. It was a really fun game.
